25mm. to .38 cal. 12 Gauge to .38 cal. 25mm. to 12 Gauge 26.5mm. to 12ga. with .38cal. A flare launcher was never designed to fire pistol ammunition. However, the pirate's plague allows the capability of firing a .38 caliber pistol round from a standard flare launcher. These adapters were created by an offshore delivery captain as a discrete no hassle solution to carrying a weapon on board. It is an indispensable survival tool for hunting, fishing, or self-defense, and is a must have for every life raft or ditch bag. This adapter by itself is not a firearm, it is legal to possess all over the world. However, if you put this adapter, in a flare launcher, you have created a firearm. You will be subject to any local, state, federal, provincial and international laws for manufacturing, transporting, storing, concealing, carrying, importing, or discharging a firearm or a deadly weapon. There may also be proximity issues, that is, how close the adapter can be stored to the flare launcher. Two types of Pirate's Plague are available, one for the 25mm flare launcher and one for the 12 gauge launcher, both designed to fire .38 caliber pistol ammunition. For reliability and repeatability, the 25mm adapter is the better choice. The launcher is metal, and the barrel locks closed. For space limitations or a back up, use this 12 gauge adapter. Since most 12 gauge launchers are usually plastic, it should be used only as an emergency survival tool. I have fired an entire box of rounds through the same 12 gauge launcher without failure. I have had others crack in half on the first shot. None have ever exploded. Old and UV damaged launchers can break. Weak springs and or worn parts can fail allowing the launcher to open resulting in loss of the adapter, or injury. For this reason it should only be used in a life or death situation. Although tested with multiple shots, consider it good for a single shot. Use only regular powered target loads or low powered self defense loads. Too powerful a load could render the flare launcher and possibly you’re hand unserviceable. The adapters are C&C machined from T-6061 aluminum. Professional test results indicate the anodize treated surface withstood corrosion in a five percent salt spray test for 336 Hours.
